Utah's NHL franchise is looking for a Coordinator, Hockey Communications who will assist with the communications strategy and public relations efforts for Utah Hockey Club. This position is housed in the Communications department and reports directly to the Director of Hockey Communications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the communications staff on creating strategies and producing plans for hockey-related events, media opportunities and summary reports
  • Provide support during media opportunities, community public relations appearances, live shots, and other hockey-related events.
  • Assist in writing press releases and media advisories
  • Research and compile materials for game notes, miscellaneous stats and gameday
  • Compile daily clips and monitor coverage reports
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing and manage game night staff during games
  • Manage the hockey PR social media account - post regular updates on team news, stats and milestones, etc., supported by the manager of hockey communications
  • Work with marketing team to create media/social graphics to promote player specific campaigns
  • Research, draft and edit all team guides (Media Guide, Playoff Guide, Draft Guide and Yearbook)
  • Assist the Manager of Hockey Communications with credentialing for local and national media for all hockey-related events and in-season game credentialing
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local media
  • Potential travel opportunities on an as needed basis
  • Protect the reputation of the company
  • Exemplify the mission and values: transparency, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappy

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in PR, journalism, communications, or related field or the equivalent training or experience
  • Previous professional sports experience working in a fast-paced environment strongly preferred
  • Passion for the National Hockey League
  • Must have solid knowledge of the NHL, statistics, and hockey terminology
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.),
  • Demonstrate an understanding of social media skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized in work approach
  • Possesses problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with the utmost discretion and diplomacy
  • Ability to work a flexible, event-based schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Position is based in Salt Lake City, Utah; remote work (full or part time) is not permitted
  • Ability to travel
