The Opportunity
RS&H is seeking a Senior Project Director to join our Aviation Practice in our Los Angeles office

Overview:

The RS&H Los Angeles office is searching for a Senior Project Director to join our team to manage a wide variety of engineering projects for our airport clients in the Los Angeles area. You are a natural leader who is comfortable interfacing with airport staff at all levels, from project managers up to the executive team. You work well with technical subject matter experts to develop scope of work documents and fee proposals, manage schedule and cost, facilitate design submittal reviews, and ensure 100% client satisfaction. Essential Functions:
  • Leads and facilitates the determination of clients' needs and expectations, providing oversight throughout the project to ensure delivery of a high-quality product that maintains client satisfaction and helps secure future business.
  • Directs and oversees the development of a detailed scope of work, budget, and schedule, and communication of the project plan with the project team, ensuring everyone is clear on the objectives and shared goals.
  • Oversees the management of the project through all phases to achieve the desired results within the established budget and schedule.
  • Negotiates contracts and contract amendments with the client. Recommends alternative and innovative solutions if project objectives cannot be achieved and contractual obligations permit. Possesses the skill to aggressively negotiate contract rates, terms, and scope while maintaining client respect.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the client and provides oversight and direction to the project team throughout the duration of the project, including ensuring regular status updates are provided to promote team coordination and client satisfaction.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to the project team to ensure clear technical direction and coordination throughout the project. Serves as a resource and mentor for technical and project management professionals, providing guidance and helping them grow. Serves as the primary owner for project quality planning and quality control.
  • Oversees and ensures an exceptional client experience to support marketing efforts to secure repeat business from existing clients and work from new clients. Proactively identifies and recommends new business and client and market opportunities. Builds and fosters client relationships to support our growth efforts.
  • Seeks opportunities proactively to enhance the production and delivery process used by RS&H and leads efforts, in collaboration with key stakeholders, to affect improvements.
  • May manage a small team, being sure to create an engaging and empowering work environment, communicating clear expectations, and providing effective performance feedback through regular meetings, recognition, rewards, coaching, and disciplinary action, when needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program and 20 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to translate client needs and requirements into a detailed scope of work, interfacing with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Requires strong attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to work independently following general direction and oversight from leadership. Also requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, set priorities, and manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and understand people in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must possess the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, demonstrate professional courage, and guide and influence others.
  • Must have knowledge of the firm goals and strategies, professional demeanor, and ethical standards to serve as the primary source of all information concerning the project and RS&H.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, and/or Licensed General Contractor licensure.
Typical salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $163,645 to $278,185 and commensurate with experience relative to the position.
