Smith Entertainment Group is looking to hire an experienced Pregame/Intermission/Postgame Producer for the new NHL team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience producing pre-games for live sports broadcasts and expert-level NHL knowledge. This person should be familiar with the challenges in putting on a RSN (Regional Sports Network) hockey broadcast.

We're looking for a team player, someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has strong interpersonal skills. This individual will need to build and maintain relationships with broadcast talent, team staff including Public Relations, as well as NHL officials.

SEG Media has built one of the most innovative, forward-thinking broadcast content and distribution strategies in the sports industry that includes linear TV, streaming, and outer market efforts. The candidate will be responsible for helping the team stay ahead of overall trends for both traditional broadcast and streaming efforts.

This position is full-time and based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Pregame Producer for the Utah NHL team for home and away broadcasts (70+ games annually plus first round of playoffs)
  • Work with Utah NHL Producer, Director and Coordinating Producer to set the tone for hockey broadcasts. Will be important to educate and in some cases introduce the Utah market to professional hockey
  • Write packages, and work with editors to cut the video for your shows, work with ENG shooters to collect sound from skate-around and practice.
  • Communicate with EVS Operators on game nights, to create playlists and content for Intermission and Post-game shows
  • Communicate with Utah Hockey Graphics Operator, creating full screens, slabs, and lower third graphics for your shows
  • Collaborate with NHL Utah staff/talent, and members of the hockey operations and PR staff on storylines and content for studio and broadcast features
  • Work with the SEG Media content team, utilizing social media teams to promote the Broadcasts, but also providing them with content
  • Exemplify the Utah Jazz mission and values: transparency, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappy
  • Accept other duties related to Smith Entertainment Group, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years as producer in live sports television
  • Ideal candidate would have experience leading teams to execute quality NHL Broadcasts
  • Used to working with and dealing with the pressure of live TV broadcasts
  • Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships with PR staff, players, coaches, front office personnel, and other members of a broadcast team including on-air talent
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Position will be based in Salt Lake City. Remote work (full or part-time) is not an option).
  • Must be knowledgeable and passionate about the NHL.
  • Ability to work a flexible, event-based schedule that will include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Ability to travel extensively including weekends and holidays

  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
