Main Purpose of Job

Maintain, repair, and sustain Maryland State Police property, including but not limited to: the grounds; exterior structures; buildings and related fixtures; and utilities by use of a variety of trade practices such as; carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, H.V.A.C., painting, and other related trades.\r

POSITION DUTIES

Performs preventative\r
maintenance, construction and repair work at the semi-skilled level in several\r
trades;\r

Prepares walls for\r
painting;\r
�\r
Erects temporary or\r
permanent fencing;\r
�\r
Trains and leads\r
Maintenance Mechanics, semi-skilled and unskilled workers\r
�\r
May operate\r
automobiles, pick-up and panel trucks, tractors, and power mowers;\r
�\r
May inspect buildings\r
and grounds for adherence to institutional safety and sanitary regulations;\r
�\r
Performs other duties\r
as assigned\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Eighth grade. \r
Experience: Four years of experience in any combination of the maintenance trades, three years must be in the trades of electricity, plumbing, steam fitting, refrigeration or air conditioning. \r
Notes: \r
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in any of the maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required education. \r
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a degree from an accredited vocational or technical high school with a major in Building Maintenance or a related field�for up to three years of the required general experience.\r
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair�classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in�any combination of maintenance trades, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r
