As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping Best Buy's App Growth team. You'll establish and grow a talented team of engineering professionals while embracing inclusive leadership behaviors, working through ambiguity, demonstrating strong attention to detail, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. In addition to mentoring and fostering the professional growth of team members, you will take an active part in the technical design and implementation of features in the Best Buy mobile app.

The App Growth team is responsible for making the Best Buy mobile app a must-have for our customers. We design and build app-exclusive features and optimize the in-app experience to engage and retain our users. We also promote the mobile app at relevant points on to encourage customers to take advantage of the capabilities offered by the app.

What you'll do

Lead a team of engineers and establish best-practices around agile development principlesTake responsibility in ensuring team's high code qualityResponsible for the SDLC process and implementing agile ceremonies and practices on theIdentify needed skills and capabilities on the team and work to fill those roles through hiring and trainingCollaborate between designers, engineers and product managersMentor and delegate work to encourage the growth of your team members and their career journey.Review code and provide thoughtful, constructive feedbackKeep up with industry trends and be an advocate for standards and best practices Build pragmatic, innovative and highly scalable solutions by leveraging engineering best practices, patterns and modern technology Build effective, intuitive user experiences focused on customer experienceShow a commitment to delivery deadlines, in particular seasonal and vendor partnerIdentify needed skills and capabilities on the team and work to fill those roles throughWork with multiple teams and stakeholders on small, medium and large scale initiatives
Basic qualifications 5 or more years of relevant experience 1 or more years of experience managing or leading engineering teams2 or more years of recent mobile development experience with React Native, IOS and/or Android
Preferred qualifications 7 or more years of relevant experience Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field3 or more years of mobile development experience with React Native, IOS and/or Android1 or more years of development experience with Java, Groovy, Spring, GraphQL, Rest API's and similar technologies 2 or more years of leading teams using agile planning principles with Kanban or similar iterative approach for estimating, planning, retrospectives, etc.Ability to triage and manage complex, production issues
