Officially established in October 2006, the Orlando VA serves more than 135,000 Veterans in Central Florida and includes a 120-bed Community Living Center, two Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs/Domiciliary (60-beds located at the Lake Nona Campus & 58-beds at the Lake Baldwin Campus), one Health Care Center in Viera, two large multi-specialty Satellite Outpatient Clinics in Orlando (Lake Baldwin campus) & Daytona Beach, & five Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located in Clermont, Kissimmee, Deltona, Palm Bay & Tavares.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:

Perform history and physical examinations, diagnose, prepare treatment plans and manage patients with complex illnesses of the otorhinolaryngology system
Admit to inpatient care, including consultation, and management of inpatients
Performance of general otolaryngology procedures including but not limited to tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, nasal and laryngeal endoscopy, otologic microscopy, and microlaryngoscopy
Performance of nasal and sinus procedures including but not limited to septal and turbinate surgery, endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery, endoscopic image guided sinus surgery, excision of intranasal masses, excision of intranasal sinus polyps, and the Caldwell Luc procedure
Performance of oral cavity surgery, including but not limited to sialolithotomy, anterior 1/3 tongue surgery, posterior 1/3 tongue surgery, palatal surgery, nasopharyngeal surgery, oropharyngeal surgery
Performance of neck surgery, including but not limited to laryngeal procedures (excluding total laryngectomy), thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, congenital neck masses, parotidectomy with and without facial nerve preservation, submandibular gland excision

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8am-430pm

(Note:
Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
