R-Zero's innovative risk model suggests mobile and autonomous UV disinfection where risks are high, achieving effectiveness while minimizing chemical usage and waste, and decreasing carbon emissions to meet sustainability goals. The platform is user-friendly, scalable, and readily accessible across various spaces, benefitting health systems, commercial real estate, cities, public services, and educational systems to meet future challenges.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer to contribute to building and managing R-Zero's technology platform. As the lead DevOps Engineer in our tight-knit team, you will design, develop, and execute continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes, also overseeing the maintenance and optimization of our production systems. Your role involves closely collaborating with the development team to ensure seamless deployment and operation of software applications.

This hybrid position involves team gatherings at least once a week, alternating between Menlo Park and San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with software development and quality assurance to create and maintain efficient CI/CD pipelines
  • Develop and improve automation tools and scripts to streamline software build, deployment, and release processes
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure high performance, availability, and security
  • Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively address potential issues
  • Deploy and manage infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Identify and implement new technologies and tools to enhance the reliability and scalability of software services
  • Document processes, standards, and configurations to ensure consistency and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to enforce security controls and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps or similar role
  • Proficient in CI/CD principles and experienced in implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions
  • Skilled in scripting languages
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and hands-on experience in managing cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with security best practices and implementing security controls in a DevOps environment
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like AWS ECS
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana
  • Understanding of networking principles and experience with networking technologies like load balancers, proxies, and firewalls
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work efficiently in a cross-functional team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in relevant technologies like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Knowledge of Git version control and Git workflows
  • Experience in database administration and management

Working with the R-Zero Software Engineering Team

Effective communication is highly valued within our team at R-Zero. Operating in a remote setup, clear communication is key to our success. We promote an open dialogue culture where questions, ideas, and feedback are encouraged. Thorough documentation of technical details is vital for us.

We strongly adhere to the convention over configuration principle to maintain consistency across our infrastructure stacks, ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new projects. Flexibility in adapting to various projects swiftly is essential, and we are consistently refining our processes for better efficiency. While our DevOps life cycle aims for predictability and efficiency, we are dedicated to continuous improvement.

We embrace innovative solutions, processes, and technologies aligned with our efficiency objectives. As a DevOps engineer at R-Zero, you will take on a crucial role in managing our systems and processes, influencing technical solutions, architecture, and infrastructure implementation. We promote a culture of learning and development, offering opportunities to master new technologies relevant to DevOps.

The salary for this position varies based on experience and location, ranging from $160,000 to $210,000. Some roles may include additional incentives such as equity and benefits. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and undergo a background check upon employment.
