Description

Leverages deep market insights (e.g., extrapolating granular trends, competitor positioning and anticipated behavior) to opine on underwriting policies, pricing, and strategy, and is athought partner for the following LOB:

  • Professional Liability- include D+O, Lawyers,
  • Accountants, Miscellaneous E+O
  • Transactional Liability
  • Healthcare
  • Environmental
  • Life Sciences
  • A&H

Portfolio Responsibilities

Develop annual reinsurance business plan in conjunction with LMRe CUO that emphasizes corporate profitability targets, maintains premium thresholds and controls accumulations.

  • Maintain relevant underwriting guidelines that adhere to corporate risk tolerances and ensure compliance of such.
  • Delegate necessary Letters of Authority (LOAs) to team to underwrite new and renewal casualty reinsurance programs that meet business plan and adheres to guidelines.
  • Coordinate underwriting audit schedule to ensure continued acceptable performance. Implement a marketing plan to build targeted portfolio, establish and maintains positive relationships with brokers and ceding companies to secure opportunities compatible with business plan objectives.
  • Active participation in Global Product Line meetings by providing relevant information/support of LMRe portfolio.
  • Maximize portfolio optimization through regular strategic interaction with Portfolio Management, Actuarial and Claims teams to recognize
  • KPIs/market leading indicators/cycle trends to proactive flex Specialty Casualty portfolio.

Underwriting Process Responsibilities

  • Proactive coordination and collaboration with all functional teams in the account due diligence and monitoring process, including but not limited to Account Huddle Meetings, client meetings, quarterly performance meetings, etc.
  • Provide all necessary information/data for portfolio management and Planning work in a timely and comprehensive fashion.
  • Ensure timely completion of all underwriting/compliance/finance system-related requirements
  • Active participation in corporate-level tools such as Salesforce/PowerBI.
  • Serve as a technical resource for relevant business for GRS-related projects and Global Product
  • Board activities to proactively seek greater LOB knowledge.
  • Collaborate with global teammates to share market knowledge, account information and LOB exp
  • Regularly engages with partners across functions on accounts and broader initiatives, e.g., market/ external engagement, bringing the best expertise to bear.
  • Maintains relationships across functional areas.
  • Helps colleagues build relationships and implement cross-functional learning
  • Assists in the development of market monitoring AI tools and provides relevant guidance on challenging accounts and relationships

Management Responsibilities

  • Active participation in LMRe global and US Reinsurance management activities
  • Establish transparent and open communication within the wider GRS/LMRe Global Team
  • Provide consistent leadership and guidance to the underwriting team.
  • Assist in career development opportunities of casualty team members through distributing corporate related programs and projects.
  • Proactive involvement in all corporate related projects.
  • Be a positive agent of change by actively supporting corporate initiatives such as business strategy, new technology and process enhancements
  • In addition to leading direct team, formally or informally is a mentor to more junior colleagues, guiding them on longer-term considerations e.g., career aspirations. Is a mentee or reverse mentor to senior underwriters/leaders.
