Mountain View Hospital is looking for a CNA to join our team

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides direct patient care consistent with the unit's standards of care. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles patient records. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habit; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with considerations and respect.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in the care of assigned patients as directed by appropriate nursing staff. Obtain patient vital signs and assist in monitoring of patients as directed.
  2. Stock rooms and supplies as needed.
  3. Communictates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers, and physicians.
  4. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
  5. Assists nurses with patient care activities.
  6. Performs his/her duties in accordance with the job requirements.
  7. Assist RNs and LPN's with housekeeping duties.
  8. Assists Nurse Supervisor and Manager as requested.
  9. Documents patient data in appropriate computer/paper system.
  10. Monitor vital signs on a stable patient.
  11. Ability to transport and drive specimens to the laboratory and other as requested.
  12. Demonstrates and ability to be flexible, organized, and functions under stressful and emergent situations.
  13. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  14. Interact professionally with patient/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance.
  15. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  16. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
  17. Answers telephone/intercom in a timely and polite matter stating name and department and communicates information to the appropriate personnel/family.
  18. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  19. Maintains regulatory requirements.
  20. Reports to work on time and is dependable as to scheduled shifts. Completes work within designated time. Does not waste time while on the job.
  21. Wears hospital identification badge while on duty.
  22. Attends staff meeting and all mandatory in-services annually.
  23. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  24. Maintains standards to provide safe, effective care to patients.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Current Nurse's Aide Certification (CNA) required. Current BLS certification and renewal as required. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience: CNA experience preferred.

Equipment/Technology: Has the ability to successfully and competently utilize computer software for operation of department

Language/Communication: Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.

Mathematical Skills: (Basic.) Ability to work with mathematical concepts.

Mental Capabilities: Able to multi-task and function at a high level with accuracy and efficiency. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions. Ability to listen and concentrate for long periods of time.

Interpersonal: Able to work well with others.

Performance: The ability to work efficiently and effectively without close supervision. Knowledge of office support functions, including word processing, filing, receptions, gathering and compiling data, and balancing and coordinating a workload involving multiple projects and clients. Able to maintain confidentiality. Able to complete a variety of tasks. Able to deal with difficult client situations and emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
