The team's mission is to empower institutions to settle digital assets safely and at scale, improving digital asset liquidity while reducing their counterparty risk. This is a nascent business line at Anchorage Digital with huge potential.

You will work with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager and the rest of the engineering team to plan, build, release and maintain high quality software for the Settlement Network business. You will be the primary driver of the system architecture, technical direction and each team member's technical skill development.

At Anchorage Digital, we believe the product is never "done," we can always do better When you join Anchorage, we expect you to drive our products forward by developing novel solutions for our institutional clients. As a team, we are constantly striving to innovate in order to build the future of cryptocurrency and the digital asset ecosystem.

We think about growth and career development differently at Anchorage Digital. We define performance as acquiring, possessing, and practicing a relevant set of skills and competencies - and the ability to apply them effectively and consistently. We have created the Factors of Growth & Impact to help Anchorage Digital "Villagers" better measure impact and the rich and rewarding learning that happens while exploring, developing, and mastering the capabilities and contributions within and outside of the Software Engineering role. You will be coached, mentored and guided to grow your capabilities in 4 major areas:

Technical Skills:

  • Build secure, resilient infrastructure from the ground up
  • Review code across the entire stack and engineering organization while actively participating in product development.
  • Foster an efficient deterministic testing culture, with an emphasis on minimizing tech debt.
  • Solve complicated software design problems.
  • Efficiently implement high quality code (functional, performant, clear, concise and well tested).

Complexity and Impact of Work:

  • Break down large projects into smaller tasks, an accurately estimate the size of multi-person projects.
  • Ship code that will impact the global economy.
  • Find the right balance between progress (i.e. shipping quickly) and perfection (i.e. measuring twice).

Organizational Knowledge:

  • Work across multiple product lines such as Anchorage Digital Trading, Custody and our suite of API integrations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with everyone.
  • Help scale the team.

Communication and Influence:

  • Influence architecture/product roadmap - have a seat at the table.
  • Mentor and guide multiple engineers on the team within their area of specialization or domain, and help others understand the strategic goals of Anchorage Digital and how their work relates to these.

You may be a fit for this role, if you:

  • You have 8+ years of professional experience building API first backend services (e.g. REST, GraphQL, gRPC).
  • You have experience designing, building and deploying cloud native micro-services.
  • You are passionate about building automated tests alongside your features.
  • You have real world experience building complex distributed systems.
  • You enjoy building services from scratch and supporting them over a meaningful period of time.
  • You have a genuine interest and pride in code quality and infrastructure.
  • You prioritize end-user experience and business value over "cool tech."
  • You developed "computer science fundamentals", i.e. algorithms, data structures and operating systems (Formal CS degree NOT required).
  • You self describe as some combination of the following: creative, humble, ambitious, detail oriented, hard working, trustworthy, eager to learn, methodical, action oriented, and tenacious.

Although not a requirement, bonus points if:

  • Professional experience with C++ or Go.
  • Professional experience with Kubernetes.
  • You have experience with system security (e.g. authentication, authorization, identity, API keys).
  • You have a background in the finance industry.
