Position Summary:

We seek an ambitious, energetic, and quality driven contract renewable teacher to join one of the nation's top undergraduate Theatre programs.

Job Duties:

This position will teach 4 classes per semester, including Acting I (acting fundamentals), Acting II (scene study) and other Theatre classes as needed. Expertise in voice and speech is an additional preferred area of expertise. This person will also be highly involved in recruiting perspective Acting students to the UNC School of Theatre Arts and Dance, including involvement in program auditions and attendance at high school theatre conferences. The School of Theatre Arts and Dance at UNC is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and enrolls approximately 325 undergraduate majors in five concentration areas, and 60 non-resident graduate students in Theatre Education and Dance Education. The School manages a robust academic production season averaging seven main stage productions per year including two musicals and a dance concert. It also operates the 88-year-old Little Theatre of the Rockies summer stock theatre. The School's talented students are taught and mentored by 20 faculty and staff and an outstanding roster of professional/industry guest artists.

Minimum Qualifications:

MFA in Theatre or a Theatre-Arts related field
Demonstrated success in teaching Stanislavski, Meisner or a related acting technique
Experience as a professional actor
Demonstrated experience teaching a diverse student body
Demonstrated ability to mentor students
