Duties

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following: Plans and completes a wide range of visual communication and multimedia projects. Conducts semi-annual and annual performance reviews, assists subordinate staff with performance issues as necessary, schedules and grants leave, and monitors overtime usage. Develops design ideas for the appearance and content of the product; researches information, resources, materials, and visual elements to develop and translate information into visual designs. Incorporates graphics into reports, newsletters, annual reports, and other print and digital publications. Maintains and updates the Electronic Message Board at the entrance of the medical center. Reviews proofs for design, color, quality, legibility, and format. Coordinates large scale projects with the government printing office or contracted business partners. Works with clients and communications specialists to understand client needs and wants for products and adjust designs and concepts to meet customer needs and wants. Helps establish visual branding/standards. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8AM to 4:30PM

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/23/2024.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. Physical Requirements: The work requires the ability to distinguish shades of color. Display production requires lifting and bending or kneeling for long periods of time. Work Environment: The work involves everyday risks and discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of office settings. The work area Is lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work Involves moderate exposure to toxic chemical vapors such as rubber cement and sign making chemicals. The incumbent Is subject to soiling of clothing and skin surfaces f r om paint, ink, and chemicals.
