About the Role:
The Head of Commercial Surety NA is responsible for:
Driving growth and business opportunities with our key relationships. Managing a growing team of 18 surety professionals in the US and Canada. Building relationships with our global surety team and aiding on cross-border business. Planning, budgeting, and managing the P&L for the NA Commercial Surety group. Interact with both internal (Client Managers, Credit Risk Team, Legal, Claims) and external parties (clients, brokers, and industry associations) as requiredAbout the Team:
We have a strong NA Commercial Surety team made up of experienced underwriters averaging 10+ years experience. We value our local relationships which has driven substantial growth in our business domestically and internationally. The team is solution-oriented and focused on profitable growth.
About You:
Essential:
Minimum 15 years experience in Commercial Surety with a major surety company and currently in a senior leadership position. Strong analytical skills. Person is the lead US and Canada underwriter who sets direction for the NA Commercial Surety group and provides over-authority on large deals. Strong interpersonal skills. Person must have the ability to manage up and down the chain. From dealing with agents/brokers/staff and internal stakeholders - building the relationships out of the box with external stakeholders (agents/brokers) and internal surety staff is key; as is working with our Contract Surety team.Strategic/Transformational mindset, open to new ways of working and the use of tech to improve client experience and generate efficiencies.This role may include travel up to 25%.
While the role is posted in Chicago or Alpharetta, we are potentially open to other locations for a qualified candidate. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.
