American National is currently looking for a skilled professional to join their team as a Director & Actuary in either their South Shore Harbor office in League City, TX or Downtown Houston, TX. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting traditional life valuation and financial reporting for various reserves. This is a leadership position involving maintenance of valuation models and handling regulatory matters while overseeing a team of direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize fundamental actuarial principles to analyze company and industry data for actuarial analyses in compliance with industry standards
- Prepare and present actuarial analysis summaries for senior management and other stakeholders like consultants, reinsurers, and regulators
- Execute and maintain controls around the valuation process, collaborating with internal and external auditors to address valuation related requests promptly
- Enhance methods for conducting and documenting actuarial analyses accurately and efficiently
- Provide training to less experienced analysts on spreadsheet, database, and data sources used in actuarial analyses
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical foundation
- Attainment of a fellowship designation or equivalent experience in actuarial and life valuation
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
