Duties
  • Responds to fire alarms for all classes of fires,
  • Operates a 200-gpm to a 1,250-gpm pumper or other emergency vehicle.
  • Determines pressure required and adjusts valves, as necessary, to regulate flow of extinguishing agents.
  • Inspects and tests breathing equipment before and after each use and refills air cylinders.
  • Rescues people in danger and removes people from buildings and other structures for first-aid treatment.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools and works in all phases of firefighting/rescue operations.
  • Inspects buildings for hazardous conditions and compliance to fire-code standards.
  • Responds to wild land fires using wild land firefighting equipment to control the spread of fires and to protect property.
