Position Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University Student Health Services department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Administrative Services vacancy.

Responsibilities

The Student Insurance Manager is responsible for the administration and overall management of the FAMU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) which includes coverage for International Students and Graduate Assistants.

This position also works with the University Risk Manager to support insurance coverage for international student athletes. The job includes both general management responsibilities and specific skilled tasks.

Handles all facets of enrollment in the SHIP and facilitates claims processing coverage against state requirements; Coordinates and supervise insurance support for remote campuses; Works with ITS staff to process timely enrollment and charging of student accounts for SHIP enrollment; Maintains accurate records, including contract files, rosters, records of invoices and payments; Prepares reports as needed and participate in departmental and/or university committees as required; and responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality, in oral, written and electronic formats, consistent with ethics, state and federal regulations and Student Health Services and University policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years experience; or master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

Recommended Competencies
Ability to maintain an atmosphere of professional customer service;
Ability to utilize multiple information system platforms (i.e., Blackboard connect, UHCRS Partner Center);
Ability to facilitate timely enrollment and charges to student accounts;
Excellent communicator, verbal and written, for one-on-one, small and large groups;
Ability to interface effectively with multiple University departments (Legal, ITS, Financial Aid, etc.);
Interfaces with insurance companies, community providers and other entities regarding the SHIP;
Provides support and referrals to students experiencing upsetting situations; and
Represents FAMU and Student Health Services through campus and SUS groups/meetings as needed.

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
