Job Summary: The Training Specialist plans, organizes, directs, and conducts specialized training requirements for a college, department, or division.
Additional Department Summary: The Training Specialist develops, coordinates, and conducts training and professional development activities to support individual, team, management, and organizational development. Identifies needs and designs and builds training courses, materials, curriculums, and learning plans. Schedules and recruits facilitators and subject matter experts. Uses a variety of training delivery methods (in-person, virtual, online learning, etc.) to support adult learning principles and learning styles. Evaluates programs to determine their effectiveness..
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of creating and/or facilitating training experience; OR master's degree and some creating and/or facilitating training experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to present information to various clientele, in groups and in one-on-one settings. Adept with training platforms and delivery methods. Experience designing, developing, implementing, marketing, and evaluating multiple training events and activities. Experience working with Learning Management Systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office and database software. Demonstrated knowledge of survey tools (Qualtrics, etc.). Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques. Ability to create engaging learning materials and presentations. Good organizational and planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Organizational Development, Education, Human Resources, Adult Learning, or related field and three (3) years of experience coordinating, developing, and delivering training to various audiences in a higher education environment. Professional Trainer Certifications (Crucial Conversations, Myers Briggs, Certified Learning Professional, etc.).
