Job Description

We are looking for a candidate at a Utilities company. Senior level engineer is responsible for planning and conducting engineering activities. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the application of theories, precepts, practice and disciplines, including practical field experience. Incumbents have the responsibility and authority to make decisions on engineering problems and methods applicable to the resolution of important issues. Participates on and leads teams of field employees, technicians, engineers and other personnel. 75% of the time you will be building data sets, taking our assumptions and putting it into a format to be handled by our IRP modeling software, running the model, reviewing the results and exporting output files. 25% of the time you will be benchmarking, staying up to recent changes with IRP requirements or any other areas that impact IRP.

Key Accountabilities

Develops, coordinates, and directs important projects or field engineering assignments with complex features.

Performs assigned (or initiates) engineering studies, proposing solutions to engineering-related problems; develops models and analyzes data to support improvement programs, techniques & solutions.

Interfaces with outside departments, vendors, suppliers, and reliability entities.

Develops or assists in presentations of engineering-related projects to all levels of management & external parties (contractors, customers, etc.).

Plans and manages group workflow to meet budgets and schedules.

May mentor and provide guidance/direction for less experienced staff.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and a minimum of 4 years of job relevant experience

Experience in integrated resource modeling (IRP), forecasting, stochastic analysis, other statistical analysis, predictive modeling and/or data analytics

Experience working with capacity expansion or production cost modeling software such as EnCompass, Aurora, Promod, Strategist, Plexos, etc.

Experience with power generation, power plant operations, renewables, storage, DSM programs or energy markets

Understanding of the Michigan regulatory construct and requirements related to integrated resource planning Scripting with SQL or python null
