IT Business Analyst

As an IT Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in gathering, documenting, and prioritizing requirements from diverse stakeholders and translating them into actionable insights for the development team. Your responsibilities will also include identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the organization.

The candidate will report into Reston, VA office 5 days a week for the first 90 days, with an option for hybrid work.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Serve as the primary contact for all software and content requests, coordinating with stakeholders on new features, training materials, and defect resolutions.
  • Meet with stakeholders to gather and thoroughly document detailed requirements, ensuring a complete understanding of business needs.
  • Work with both stakeholders and the development team to review and refine business requirements, iterating through discussions until consensus is reached and sign-off is obtained from all parties.
  • Store approved requirements in a secure location after sign-off, ensuring they are accessible for future reference.
  • Collaborate with the business team and development team to prioritize tasks. Manage the creation and approval processes in JIRA, ensuring alignment with documented requirements.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure test results meet the documented and approved requirements, maintaining high software quality standards.
  • Assist in developing training materials and support user training initiatives to facilitate the smooth adoption of new features and software solutions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements within the business analysis and requirement-gathering processes, enhancing the efficiency of software development projects.
  • Ensure effective communication between business stakeholders and development teams, maintaining a shared understanding of objectives and requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and manage sprint cycles, integrating business requirements seamlessly into development processes.
  • Schedule and lead Product Design Review (PDR) and Change Control Board (CCB) meetings, promoting collaboration and effective decision-making.
  • Obtain necessary approvals from the business team to release sprint builds to production, ensuring each release aligns with business objectives and approved requirements.

    Required Skills & Experience:
    • At least 6 years of proven experience in gathering, documenting, and managing detailed requirements for software development projects.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
    • At least 6 years of strong project management experience, including task prioritization, scheduling, and coordination to ensure successful project delivery.
    • At least 6 years of familiarity with business analysis, requirements gathering, and project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and version control systems like Git.
    • At least 4 years of experience with Agile methodologies, including managing sprint cycles and participating in Agile ceremonies.
    • At least 2 years of prior experience as a software developer using languages such as C/C++, Java, C#, etc. Hands-on development experience enhances the ability to communicate effectively with development teams and bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation.
    • At least 6 years of familiarity with quality assurance processes and the ability to collaborate with QA teams to ensure testing aligns with requirements.
    • At least 4 years of experience in developing or supporting user training initiatives to facilitate smooth software adoption.
    • A strong inclination for continuous process improvement, identifying and implementing enhancements to streamline business analysis processes.
    • Some travel may be required throughout the year to key customer sites and to satellite offices: 20% yearly.
