Job responsibilities include:
plan and lead lab-based science instruction for students in Fifth and Sixth Grades, focusing on Earth Science and Physics, as well as Life Science, including invertebrates and microorganisms
develop assessments, evaluate, and track student progress
differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
maintain communication with parents about student progress, including through parent-teacher conferences, report cards, and portfolio conferences
plan and lead advisory meetings with a group of 8-12 students, and partner with grade-level co-advisors for advisory curricula
chaperone field trips, including possible overnight trips
experience with the Responsive Classroom or Developmental Designs approach and project-based curriculum and assessments are a plus
The successful candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent experience in science, education, or related field. Candidates should have an interest in collaborating with a team of teachers, a strong sense of purpose in teaching lifetime skills, an active curiosity about children and their success. Four years of teaching experience is preferred but not required.
