Context and Philosophy :

We have an opening for an Assistant Director of College Counseling to begin in July 2024. The College Counseling program is a 4-year sequence with grade level programming in the 9th and 10th grades and more intensive, individualized counseling and advocacy in the 11th and 12th grades. This position provides individual counseling to a caseload of 11th and 12th grade students and families among the ~360 Upper School students and their families. This position also provides all the support, scheduling, database management, communications, and program support for the Office of College Counseling. This position is a full-time, 12-month employee.

Responsibilities:
- Oversees administrative components of the college application process for all students.
- Manage databases (SCOIR), scheduling, and calendar for the Office of College
Counseling.
- Attend regional and national college counselor programs at colleges and universities, as well as conferences hosted by professional organizations (NACAC, PCACAC, ACCIS).
- Teach seminar-style classes in college readiness, essay writing workshops, and
navigating the college admissions process.
- Beginning winter 2025, advise a cohort of students with whom you will progress through their years in the Upper School.
- Plan, attend, and present at evening and summer programs and workshops for students and families.
- Work with the SSD Coordinator to administer standardized college admissions testing
(AP, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT).
- Fulfill a "plus one" responsibility in the co-curricular or extra-curricular life of the school including clubs, coaching, special event planning, field trips, seminars, etc.

Attend All-School Professional Days, Department meetings, and Upper School faculty
meetings.
- Help move the initiatives of the School forward by serving on committees and lending
his/her expertise and voice.
- Collaborate with faculty within the division, and cross-divisionally.
- Work closely with the Upper School Administrative Team and Grade Deans.
- Oversee communications between Friends School and College Board, NCAA, college
admissions offices, NACAC, and other outside organizations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and experience preferred
- Experience working in college admissions and/or counseling preferred
- Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to understand and incorporate Quaker
Principles and Quaker education into their work.
