Generalist Statement of Responsibilities:

Student Counseling Services (SCS) at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus seeks applicants for a full-time Psychologist to provide individual and group counseling with an emphasis on working with BIPOC/International students, clinical oversight to student trainees, and outreach and programming to the University Community. Assess, diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview and psychological tests.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology,
  • Licensure as a psychologist in MN
  • 2 years of experience providing clinical services in university setting, to include focus on international student population, providing culturally sensitive treatment, supporting cross-cultural adjustment, brief therapy, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship concerns.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to graduate clinicians-in-training also required, as well as related scholarly publication.

At SCS, we recognize and acknowledge that emotional well-being concerns are impacted by social forces in the world related to power and privilege, colonization, discrimination, stereotypes, bias, and all forms of marginalization and oppression. We identify that these forms of oppression are pervasive and institutionalized and often go unacknowledged. This lack of acknowledgement can leave impacted individuals and communities feeling alone, voiceless, and invalidated. Additionally, we identify the multiple ways in which the mental health field has harmed and, in some cases, continues to harm people from various marginalized identities.

Our staff and trainees actively work to address these forms of oppression in a culturally affirming manner and consider the impact of oppression for students who seek services at SCS.
