Portland State University's Helen Gordon Child Development Center offers a full-day infant-toddler, preschool, and kindergarten program :

The Center is accredited by NAEYC and plays a strong role in the community as a model school and serves as an academic laboratory for university faculty and students. Our campus partner school, the Children's Center offers PSU families a flexible short-hour program for children aged twelve months to seven years :

The core values of the two campus centers are grounded in respect for human diversity and commitment to peace and social justice. Our programs find inspiration in the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy and embrace the values shared through the work of these schools. Our teachers are encouraged to create interesting, challenging and engaging curriculum with children in flexible and supportive environments.
Position Summary
The Early Childhood Inclusion Specialist works alongside the early childhood classroom teachers at Helen Gordon Child Development Center and the Children's Center to provide support for children with special needs and to support the teachers in their work with children who need specialized care and education services.

The Inclusion Specialist works across the programs as needed to support optimal inclusion and enhance the classroom experience of individual children and their relationships with peers and teachers in the community.

Minimum Qualifications
BA/Bs degree in Early Intervention Special Education, Special Education, Early Intervention or equivalent, and two years of early childhood teaching experience, including inclusive programs.
Understanding of child development. Including typical and exceptional development.
Understanding and experience with developmentally-based, constructivist early childhood curriculum.
Knowledge of and experience and skills in using tools for assessment and documentation within an early childhood classroom.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact positively and comfortably with young children and adults.
Proficiency with technology
Strong oral and written communication.
Ability to work within a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications
MA or MS degree in Early Intervention Special Education, Special Education, Early Intervention or equivalent and one year of related experience.
Two or more years of licensed teaching experience
Teaching experience in an inclusive early childhood program
Prior teaching experience with a broad age range, including infants and toddlers, preschool and kindergarten.
Knowledge of and experience with a positive discipline model.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $56,060 and $59,172, but may be negotiated above this range dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.

An excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon University System schools :
