POSITION DUTIES

This position serves as an extended\r
learning opportunities specialist responsible for providing leadership and\r
technical assistance in the areas of summer and after school learning\r
opportunities and youth development to 21st Century Community grant recipients\r
and Maryland's 24 local education agencies (LEAs).\r
�Responsibilities include:\r

Serves as the technical specialist\r
for monitoring of 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st\r
CCLC) funded afterschool programs.\r
Provides leadership, managerial\r
direction, and technical assistance to local recipients of the 21st\r
CCLC funded grants.\r
Assists in the design, development,\r
implementation, and evaluation of afterschool programs designed to improve the\r
academic achievement of disadvantaged children.\r
Provides professional development\r
to 21st CCLC grantees in Maryland's 24 LEAs.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:\r
A Master's degree or the equivalent of 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate\r
course work from an accredited college or university.\r
\r
\r
Experience: Four years\r
of administrative or teaching experience in, or affiliated with, an education\r
program.\r
\r
\r
\r

Candidates\r
may substitute a Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience directly related\r
to the position option for the required education.�\r
Candidates\r
may substitute the possession of a Doctorate degree from an accredited college\r
or university in a field related to the position option for one year of the\r

required field of education and experience are unique for each option and are established\r
by MSDE in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104 of the Annotated\r
Code of Maryland. The specific education and experience qualifications for each\r
position are on record in the Office of Human Resources.�\r

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned\r
officer in Education Program classifications or Education Program specialty\r
codes in the Education field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required\r

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r
