Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. The Opportunity
The Senior Data Engineer will be a part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics team.
The individual will be a part of the engineering team that develops data pipelines & objects in the warehouse. The cloud based warehouse is expected to contains the data, historical & transactional, for several up-stream applications that support a specific line of business
The Work Itself
This position is for a passionate experienced individual with great technical skills with the following responsibilities
- Engage in application design discussions as it pertains to the upscaling the application
- Break down the design into build / change components
- Leads code review sessions to validate adherence with development standards and benchmark application performance by regression & capacity testing ahead of Production deployment
- Leads the activities to transition ew development into Production Operations
- Leverages DevOps techniques and Experience with DevOps tools like GitLab, Jira & Terraform
- Engage in discussions that lead to & building of AI/ML capabilities
The incumbent must have extensive experience in any warehousing platform, including Snowflake or any other cloud based warehouse tool. The individual must possess strong query writing skills, expertise in ETL tools, like DataStage, Dbt Cloud or any other cloud based ETL tools. The individual must also have a strong knowledge of AWS services. The incumbent must also have strong programming skills on languages such as Python, JavaScript & R. Knowledge / exposure to reporting & analytical tools is desirable, such as MS PowerBI.
The incumbent will work closely with a variety of groups throughout the organization, which will require the ability to communicate with associates with backgrounds ranging from business & data analysts, application developers and business & reports users. The incumbent must also exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills and have experience interacting with internal technical and business partners as well as external partners. Experience with on-shore and off-shore contractors is a plus.

Qualifications
Mandatory
- 3+ years of experience in any Warehousing application, either on-prem or cloud based, like Snowflake
- Expertise in ETL / ELT tools DataStage and other tools like Dbt Cloud or AWS Glue
- Exposure to data modelling & vaulting techniques, like DV2.0
- Strong AWS services knowledge
- Expertise in programming languages like Python, JavaScript & R
- Knowledge of ML models & techniques to evaluate performance of the models
- Working knowledge of generative AI technology such as ChatGPT, Bard, Llama, Sage Maker or similar
- Exposure to AI security best practices
- Excellent query writing and SQL procedural language skills
- Rich experience in DevOps techniques and tools like GitLab, Jira, Terraform to build automation
- Working knowledge in Data Management tools such as Collibra DQ, Alation, Tosca or others
- Ability to work in a large, complex business and technical environment with competing priorities
- Provide input to planning activities to estimate effort to complete sprint planning and execution tasks/activities
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task and must be a fast starter, effectively delivers with limited supervision
- Must have excellent communication skills written as well as verbal; must be able to articulate the value proposition of solution
Preferred
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering/data transformation
- AWS Certified
- Snowflake Pro certified
- Automotive Finance or Insurance Industry experience
- Experience in Agile / SCRUM (with sprints) methodologies #li-hybrid
