  • Position Summary:

    Under the general supervision of the Healthcare Network Supervisor, the AR Specialist provides transaction settlement support to assigned clients. Duties may include master file maintenance, data entry, transaction matching, and resolving any data issues. May also participate in the on-boarding of new Clients.

Hiring Requirements

  • Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
    • Management of weekly process within specified assigned clients or workflow queues:
    • Prepare remittance advice for digital data capture. Research missing information and edit for data capture processing.
    • Key remittance advice information in system to perform application of payment records.
    • Review unapplied checks daily and escalate issues that cannot be resolved within specified deadlines.
    • Create manual payment batches in accordance with departmental policies and procedures to resolve aged checks.
    • Manually associate open checks to available payment batches with 99% accuracy.
    • Monitor frequency of carrier payments and notify account team or data management when off cycle.
    • Resolve processing issues timely for assigned workload:
    • Upload bank files and monitor for exceptions. Contact bank or account team as needed to resolve issues.
    • Research and request missing remittance through retrieving data from carrier online portals, working with Payer Relations Team, or calling the carrier to request paper form.
    • Perform routine file maintenance including but not limited to setting up new stores, carriers or processing rules based on direction given by account team or manager.
    • Monitor exceptions to initiate action for missing store or carrier information.
    • Confirm set up of bank cross reference file using MICR line information from newly submitted payments by carriers.
    • Follow HIPAA policies and procedures per company guidelines
    • Performing special projects and other duties as assigned by management

    Minimum Requirements:
    • At least four years of relevant experience involving customer service, computer usage, data entry and data analysis AND a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Ability to:
    • analyze internal transaction settlement business operations and make appropriate recommendations
    • handle controversial matters in a diplomatic manner
    • prepare complex financial reports and records
    • professionally handle angry or frustrated clients to maintain good business relations
    • compose routine and professional correspondence and reports
    • provide cross training to coworkers
    • work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
    • work effectively in a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities and stringent deadlines
    • proceed independently and carry out assignments to completion with minimal instruction
    • 10-key by touch; accurately perform alpha/numeric data entry
    • perform detailed work with numerical data rapidly and accurately to make mathematical computation rapidly and accurately
    • analyze transactions, detect and correct errors
    • provide clear, explicit instructions
    • Knowledge of intermediate level of proficiency using MS Excel and Word
    • AS400 Systems-preferred
    • problem analysis
