Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning is a member of the Global Strategic Marketing's (GSM) strategy and new business team and is responsible for facilitating the global strategy and business planning deliverables in support of the pediatric and developed eye strongholds.

This role will be crucial in the design, development, and implementation of strategic needs in support of the global Vision strategy and business plans, partnering with global/regional stakeholders and leaders across marketing, R&D, supply chain, business development, finance analytics, and other relevant functions to ensure alignment with the strategic course of the business. In this challenging and highly visible role, this individual will support stronghold and platform-level strategic decision-making by conducting projects related to market analysis, emerging industry trends, portfolio analysis, and identification of strategic needs as it relates to the pursuit of maximizing commercial pull-through of our various eye health solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic thinking, quantitative skills, complex problem-solving and the ability to influence without authority (esp. senior executives). They will be comfortable making and validating assumptions, monitoring the external environment and key competitors, and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate critical processes related to strategic planning, business planning, investor relations, and budget coordination for their designated stronghold.
  • Own development, reviews, and roll-out of the strategic plan and business plan through partnership with cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Work with corporate stakeholders to understand needs, timing, and leadership priorities to ensure connectivity with Vision strategy, processes, and outputs.
  • Partner with analytics and finance stakeholders to develop assumptions and guidelines for forecasting and business cases.
  • Develop and maintain strategic objectives, scorecards, and dashboards to support effective tracking and communication of execution against strategy.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry trends and market dynamics to support the development of informed strategy and adjustments over time.
  • Facilitates business problem solving through structured hypotheses, detailed analyses, and synthesized insights leading to recommendations to senior management.
  • Support GSM leadership in preparing presentations for senior management reviews, from concept to design and delivery.
  • Perform other strategy, planning, and operations tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. MBA or equivalent degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive business experience is required. Optical industry and/or medical device experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of strategic leadership within a key business function (e.g., marketing, innovation, operations, etc.) is required.
  • Healthcare management or strategy consulting experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and senior management to facilitate decision-making is required, as well as a demonstrated track record in identifying growth opportunities and priorities.
  • Prior experience with a matrix organization and proven ability to influence without direct authority is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with senior executives is required.
  • Prior experience working with Legal, Regulatory and Global partners is preferred.
Other
  • Position is based in Jacksonville, FL (preferred) or Irvine, CA.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $118,000 to $203,550.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year.
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year.
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year.
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
