Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for the timely and accurate reconciliation of the University's accounts.
Salary Grade
O08
Essential Functions
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts and various general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares journal entries for non-recorded bank transactions.
  • Provides a daily summary of available cash to upper management.
  • Works with others to ensure timely application of funds.
  • Maintains all aspects of fixed asset inventory.
  • Produces ad hoc system reporting as needed.
  • Provides backup for check preparation and postings.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned. Responsibilities, activities, and duties are subject to change at any time, with or without notice.

Minimum Qualifications
  • General working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Prior bank account reconciliation experience.
  • Solid organizational ability with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Ellucian Colleague or Banner a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
