San Francisco, California, United States Framework Computer Full time

Who We Are

At Framework, we believe the time has come for products that are designed to last. Founded in San Francisco in 2019, our mission is to remake Consumer Electronics to respect people and the planet.

We've started with two award-winning products, the Framework Laptop 13 and 16. Our laptops are thin, light, high-performance notebooks that can be upgraded, customized, and repaired in ways that no other notebook can. Alongside this, we've launched the Framework Marketplace to enable an ecosystem of parts and modules. We've seen a fantastic reception to both of our laptops from customers and reviewers from outlets like Linus Tech Tips, Ars Technica, and multiple Wirecutter reviews (including a recommendation among the best Windows Ultrabooks of 2024), along with making TIME's Best Inventions lists in 2021 and 2023. As a company, we were #35 on Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2022.

We come from successful consumer electronics startups including the founding team of Oculus, and have closed multiple rounds of funding to fuel our roadmap. Even better (and maybe unusually for an early stage startup), we're in a financially healthy position going forward off of our product revenue. We care deeply about building a diverse and inclusive team, and we hope you do too

We're seeking a passionate Quality Assurance Engineer to join our expanding Framework e-commerce Marketplace team. As a key player in shaping the future of our user experience and online store, you'll collaborate closely with our Engineering team to rigorously test new features and functionality on our platform ).

This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in both automated QA tools and comprehensive manual testing of web applications. We expect the role to be roughly 60% automation work and 40% manual testing. Your dedication to quality and Framework's mission of creating sustainable and ethical consumer electronics are essential for success in this role.

We strive to create a collaborative, supportive, and transparent culture and we are invested in the growth of the people who join our team. We look for people who are motivated to learn from others and to help each other grow, people who are open to new ideas and ways of doing things, and people who want to experiment their way forward. If you're not sure that you're 100% qualified, but are up for the challenge - we want you to apply.

This is a remote position based in the US or Canada. You will ideally be located in the Eastern time zone.

What You'll Do

  • Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure comprehensive test coverage
  • Design, develop and execute regression, functional, performance, and end-to-end testing
  • Craft and execute automated test cases using industry-standard tools
  • Conduct thorough manual testing and check for consistency across devices, browsers and operating systems
  • Identifying and reporting any usability issues that might hinder a smooth customer experience
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint retrospectives

What You'll Need

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance focused on websites or related e-commerce functionalities
  • Demonstrated experience building automated test suites: This includes proficiency with GUI tools (e.g. Datadog Synthetics) and the ability to code automated tests to streamline repetitive QA tasks using tools such as Selenium or Playwright
  • Proven experience collaborating with Software Engineers within a team responsible for running an e-commerce website
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles for both web and mobile experiences
  • Keen eye for identifying critical bugs: Your ability to uncover issues that might elude others during testing is crucial
  • Familiarity with issue-tracking software like Jira and a solid grasp of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) will be advantageous
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and can apply them to a team environment.
  • A true team player, willing to collaborate not just with other engineers, but with teammates across disciplines like Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, and Logistics, across the US and the world
  • Experience working in Agile environments with volatile scopes and requirements.
  • Extreme ownership of the features you review, all the way to its production deployment and beyond.

What's Nice to Have

  • Experience with Datadog Synthetic tests, Capybara, and Selenium
  • Experience with Jira Work Management platform
  • Experience with Heroku, AWS and other IaaS/PaaS platforms.
  • Experience in the eCommerce/DTC/marketplace industries.
  • Experience working with remote teams through asynchronous processes.

What You'll Love

  • Competitive salary, equity, and health benefits
  • Paid company holidays plus 20 PTO days per year
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible work hours and locations, including every other Friday off
  • 401K with matching for US employees
  • The chance to work at a startup that is making a positive social and environmental impact.
