About this Position:
The Process Manufacturing Engineer will design processes for safe and efficient automotive frame assembly. You will use analytic tools and traditional industrial engineering methods to optimize Assembly Line production functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Use M.O.S.T. to develop balanced processes across manufacturing areas. Work to achieve high Process Efficiency. Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques. Design processes that are simple and achieve SQCDM targets.
- Audit big data to ensure accurate information across all Operations Standards. Mobilize Excel formulas and VBA coding to optimize tasks.
- Regularly lead meetings with other Honda functional groups to develop and launch improvement themes (Quality, Safety, Delivery, Production, Purchasing, Packaging, or Logistics).
- Perform time estimates for assembly line work, equipment loads, and develop Operation Standards.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste within the process and improve efficiency. Apply 5S work methods, workstation design, and set best practices for production.
- Evaluate and implement ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
- New Support Model Events. Forecast design impact to department. Incorporate change points into process design. Identify concerns and countermeasure before mass production.
- Maintain accurate AutoCAD department layout.
- Develop Plans and Schedules for projects. Set timelines and detailed activities. Hold meetings with cross functional engineering groups to ensure completeness.
- Project support for all items impacting Assembly department's Associate Process.
- Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns.
- Read Parts drawings, Spec Notices, 3D CATIA data.
- Create charts and presentations to report status and plans for key department metrics.
Who we are seeking:
Required Work Experience:
- One term as a co-op at Honda or in a similar manufacturing environment.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, engineering technology) or 4 years engineering experience in lieu of a degree
Desired skills:
- Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service.
Additional Position Factors:
- Generally first shift production hours, occasional split/second shift support required. 0-5 hours OT weekly.
- 50% Fast-paced high-energy manufacturing environment, 50% office environment.
