Summary You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Engineering Department, Main Propulsion and Electrical Division, of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Responsibilities You will serve as lead technical expert on all Propulsion systems onboard naval ships such as Main Reduction Gears, Clutches, Shafting, Hub, and Propellers Systems on a wide variety of supporting ships of the U.

S. Navy.

You will serve as Team Leader with Delegated Technical Authority of Technical Teams with responsibility for functional checks, test and inspection, material condition assessment of major systems.

You will lead inspections and pre-deployment assessments on Main Propulsion and Shafting equipment and systems.

You will serve as a lead technical representative for shipboard, intermediate, and depot-level technical assistance on problems determined to be beyond capability of ships force, Intermediate Maintenance Activity, and ship repair facility level.

You will lead and conduct technical engineering investigations, research, and analysis to resolve unusual or unprecedented technical engineering problems.

You will provide oversight to ships force, intermediate level personnel and contractors performing repairs; prioritize work; resolve conflicts, and brief senior Command Leadership.

You will coordinate with codes throughout SWRMC Engineering, and liaison with NAVSEA, Naval Station Warfare Center Philadelphia, Type Commander, Naval Shipyards and other technical groups.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a technical training program for C263.

Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.


Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Providing technical engineering advisory services or guidance through investigations, research and analysis to resolve unusual or unprecedented engineering problems to ensure ship propulsion system and equipment operational readiness.

This position requires rotating shift work. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee.
