Summary

The Director of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program performs the full range of management functions for the Agency's EEO program including planning, directing, and evaluating program activities, developing goals and making long range program plans and serves as principal advisor to the Chairman and General Counsel on all matters pertaining to the EEO program, policy and implementation.



Duties

As a Director of Equal Employment Opportunity (Supervisory Attorney Advisor)GS -0905-15, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Managing and developing processes and procedures for complaint handling, special emphasis programs, and reporting to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other external entities in addition to internal constituents and others, including directing the preparation of recurring or special reports and statistics for compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program;
  • Supervising over legal matters pertaining to the EEO program, including investigations of EEO complaints filed against the Agency and managing alternative dispute resolution and settlement agreements;
  • Providing guidance to Agency leaders on all aspects of EEO including identifying institutional barriers to equal employment opportunity for employees and applicants for employment, support in recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, and Special Emphasis Programs;
  • Directing the staff of the EEO Office as well as well as collateral duty EEO Personnel in Headquarters and the Field, i.e., Special Emphasis Program Coordinators, Counselors, throughout the Agency including evaluating the work for technical competency and to ensure that the Agency meets regulatory requirements;
  • Providing guidance, advice, training and technical assistance to EEO Specialists and Counselors in the implementation of policies, goals, and action plans for promoting equality of opportunity throughout the Agency;
  • Planning, organizing, and directing training seminars on EEO issues for managers, supervisors, EEO collateral duty personnel, and employees; and
  • Providing and maintains active, cooperative and effective professional relationships with key program and management staff of NLRB, including representing the Agency at various public and private levels and with outside public and private organizations interested in the EEO Program.
