Our client is seeking a Temporary Payroll Accountant to join their team. The selected individual will be responsible for processing and managing the organization's payroll and related accounting functions. Our client offers a hybrid work environment and a great benefit package. It is important to note that this opportunity does have potential to become a permanent role.

Job Duties:

  • Perform general accounting functions and payroll operations.
  • Responsible for general ledger journal entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Ensure all payroll data is entered and updated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review timesheet submissions and mileage and/or expense reimbursements for accuracy.
  • Account for and reconcile agency benefit deductions, including but not limited to 403(b) retirement, Section 125, Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Work as a team with accounting peers to resolve month and year-end closings, account reconciliations, and general accounting duties.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial and payroll reports, including but not limited to gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.
  • Assist with grant billings as needed.
  • Provide cross-functional support throughout the Accounting Department.
  • Facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll processes and procedures.
  • Other accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Three years' experience administering payroll functions.
  • Three to five years' experience in Accounting and/or Accounts Payable.
  • Knowledge of state/federal wage and hour laws, general accounting concepts and procedures.
  • Ability to guard confidentiality, including employee information, agency business, etc.
  • Intermediate computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, HR/payroll systems, etc.).
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and accounting systems.
