Job Description:
The Registration Clerk provides general office support and customer service for the Registrar's Office on the SUNY Westchester Community College Valhalla campus. Responsibilities include monitoring the front counter; assisting students with registering for classes; answering student inquiries via phone and email; maintaining back-up files of student programs, courses, grades and related records; completing enrollment verifications and fulfilling transcript requests; using computer applications or other automated systems such as word processing, calendar, e-mail, document imaging, and database software in performing work assignments; and other incidental tasks, as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.* The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and one year of data entry or word processing experience, including or supplemented by one year of experience involving obtaining information from the general public or clients. Prior customer service experience is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Registration Clerk is preferred to possess the following qualifications:
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as PeopleSoft, OnBase, and/or Microsoft 365.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with faculty, staff, and students.
- Experience working in an educational institution.
