Essential Responsibilities

  • Reviews and actions Airworthiness Directives (ADs) so as to endure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Reviews Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.
for applicability and system reliability and/or economic benefits

  • Develops technical data required for modifications/repairs of aircraft systems and components
  • Obtains regulatory approval for modifications/repairs performed on JetBlue aircraft systems and components
  • Develops customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing, and other maintenance actions which are not adequately addressed in existing manuals
  • Prepares engineering documents such as Engineering Orders (EOs) to provide technical dispositions for repairs, modifications, inspection or other maintenance actions on aircraft systems and components, which provide benefits in accordance with airline/departmental objectives

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
  • One (1) year of experience in FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Maintenance or Engineering
  • Background in aircraft systems, including but not limited to, Air Conditioning, Fire Detection, Flight Controls, Fuel, Hydraulics, Ice and Rain, Landing Gear, Pneumatics, Water and Waste
  • Experience in an Applied Engineering discipline with an emphasis on aircraft systems
  • P
ossess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record that meets JetBlue Airways' insurance standards

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • D
epending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance

  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Airbus experience
  • Two (2) years in the airline industry with working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) governing aircraft certification and maintenance
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • C
omputer literate in Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Project

ossess reliability analysis skills to identify root cause of systems problems

  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
  • P
ossess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical abilities

  • Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
  • Able to manage and coordinate several tasks and projects simultaneously

otential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Work Environment:

  • Required to work in airport environment which may present weather variations and elevated noise level
  • Required to do shift work and irregular hours due to irregular operations
  • Required to work in the ramp area of the airport terminal
  • Irregular work shifts, on call, and multiple work locations

Physical Effort:

  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $80,000 and $103,100.
Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
