Our previous achievements include the design and operation of custom drones, the production of multiple automotive platforms, and the electrification of various transportation vehicles, including those that magnetically levitate, roll, and fly. Together, we have been learning, developing, building, testing, and preparing for this challenge throughout our careers.

We are currently expanding our Systems Engineering department and are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Systems Engineer/Modeler (SEM) to join our team. This role is pivotal in leading model-based aircraft and system identification, specification, and architectural activities.

The SEM will play a crucial role in supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), developing system requirements, and architectural modeling, along with verification processes to facilitate the advancement of the electric Integrated Flight and Propulsion Control System (IFPCS).

In collaboration with the MBE Requirements and Design Engineers, the SEM will contribute to establishing the digital thread for the TC development program. The responsibilities include constructing the model representation of the Digital Thread and overseeing the MBSE Architecture and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate optimal global trade-offs among vehicle aeromechanics, aerodynamics, and electric propulsion & energy storage systems.
  • Comprehend the interrelationships among various systems (e.g., motor efficiency versus cooling versus aerodynamic drag versus HV battery mass).
  • Define and monitor requirements for different systems within the overall Flight/Propulsion Control or Electrical Power and Electrical Propulsion systems.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to establish requirements for selecting suitable components.
  • Work in tandem with the testing team to develop a verification and validation strategy and assess various designs.
  • Engage in Systems Engineering and specification of electrical system requirements.
  • Participate in Electrical System Design (e.g., simulation, modeling, engineering testing) and functional design (e.g., functional allocation from top-level functions to electrical system breakdown).
  • Validate Odys Aviation's requirement management toolset.
  • Conduct electrical system integration tasks (including electrical integration via wiring diagrams, software integration through ICD/IDD, and mechanical integrations via ICD).
  • Define system integration test protocols (design verification tests, functional integration testing, ground/flight testing).
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a 5-year degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in safety-critical software and systems.
  • Proficient in Systems Engineering and the V-process.
  • Capable of leading Systems Engineering activities by breaking down systems into subsystems and their interfaces, and deriving requirements for these subsystems.
  • Experience with requirement management tools.
  • Familiarity with SysML or similar modeling languages.
  • Advanced skills in Matlab/Simulink.
  • Expertise in electrical systems and their modeling.
  • Solid understanding of Electrical Machines and circuit design.
  • Knowledge of Power Electronics.
  • Basic understanding of High Voltage DC applications.
  • Fundamental skills in control engineering.
  • Exposure to flight avionics and fly-by-wire systems is desirable.
  • Experience in aircraft system-subsystem integration is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in project execution.
