PRIMARY PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE
The primary purpose of this position is to assess and analyze the impact of the efforts across Greater Twin Cities United Way's (GTCUW) community impact investments in economic opportunity, household stability, and educational success. These community impact efforts include investment in the form of grantmaking, capacity building, systems change work, technical assistance, shared learning initiatives, and advocacy. You will join a team whose work is community-driven, data-informed.
Under the direction of the Director of Learning and Impact Strategy, this role will focus on leading the evaluation efforts of Greater Twin Cities United Ways Innovation Initiatives that shape the way nonprofit organizations and public systems serve our community in the areas of early childhood education, housing, career development, and food security. This position will co-design evaluation plans with program officers and community members, collect and analyze data, and employ a Developmental Evaluation approach to understanding the systems level impact of the initiatives in the community.
This position will lead the evaluation efforts of Greater Twin Cities United Ways 211 Resource Hotline and 988 Suicide Prevention Hotline, as well as support the Advocacy team in designing, deploying, and refining systems level evaluations of their work. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategy, Measurement and Evaluation - 50%
- Manage strategy development, quality improvement, and retrospective learning opportunities using evidence-based measurement and evaluation approaches.
- Lead the measurement, collection, integrity, and analysis of nonprofit partner reporting data and 211/988/ ALICE data using equitable evaluation practices.
- Design and manage data collection frameworks to ensure appropriateness of methods and consistent quality across impact area portfolios.
- Provide thought leadership within Community Impact to cultivate reflective practice skills and practices and support the development of analytical and evaluative thinking among colleagues.
- Consult and provide subject matter expertise on creation of data visualizations, reports, presentations, surveys and other products that convey complex information in an easy-to-understand format.
- Support effective communication of reporting data with internal and external stakeholders throughout the innovation lifecycle.
- Support technical assistance efforts to nonprofit partners in contract and grant reporting activities, in partnership with CI Operations and other CI colleagues.
Evaluation & Shared Learning - 25%
- Support the Learning & Impact Strategy team in the development and execution of shared learning initiatives to deepen understanding of CI's collective impact with GTCUW staff and external partners.
- Measure and evaluate GTCUW activities and effectiveness within shared learning initiatives.
- Incorporate knowledge generated from shared learning initiatives into outcomes-focused measurement and evaluation efforts.
- Identification of learning opportunities within CI strategy and programming.
- Manage strategy execution, quality improvement, and retrospective learning opportunities using cross-organizational content synthesized for learning development.
- Identify and package key learnings produced by organizational efforts to inform reports for multiple diverse stakeholders and audiences.
- Promote a culture of learning throughout GTCUW.
Process and Systems - 20%
- Create and maintain effective processes for sharing content and deliverables across functions.
- Understand organizational data systems and how to access impact information.
- Create and maintain cross-functional content and information requests.
- Manage the Hub for the Community Impact department, post the Community Impact Announcements, and manage content in the knowledge management structures across Community Impact.
- Lead efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of impact data.
Other - 5%
- Engage in GTCUW diversity, equity and inclusion efforts; integrates principle of diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of role.
- Participate and support Community Impact team and GTCUW initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
COMPETENCIES THAT SUPPORT YOUR WORK
- Three to five years of experience in a learning and evaluation capacity, non-profit highly desirable.
- Equity: A commitment to equity and intersectionality with a strong understanding of how systemic inequity creates and perpetuates community disparities.
- Autonomy: Ability to independently and effectively execute work plans in a fast paced and matrixed hybrid environment.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in collecting, organizing, and analyzing qualitative data to evaluate program impact. Strong skill in using analysis software and data visualization tools would be desired. Ability to synthesize and interpret data to provide insights and make evidence-based recommendations.
- Evaluation methodologies: Knowledge of various evaluation methodologies and techniques such as logic models and theories of change. Experience with Developmental Evaluation
- Critical thinking: Ability to think critically and objectively outcomes, identify strengths and barriers, and propose innovative solutions to improve program effectiveness.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate evaluation findings, insights, and recommendations to diverse stakeholders. Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team embers, program officers, and nonprofit partners. Ability to work collaboratively to co-develop objectives, indicators, and analyze data, identify trends, and develop strategies for improvement.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple evaluation projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong organizational skills to maintain documentation and track progress.
