This position is the Chief of the Division of Interpretation and Education at Cape Lookout National Seashore. The incumbent has responsibility overall management and supervision of the interpretive programs and functions within Cape Lookout National Seashore.

Duties of the position include:

planning, developing, directing, coordinating, overseeing, and evaluating complex interpretive and visitor services operations related to the preservation and visitor use of the natural, cultural and recreational resources within the Cape Lookout National Seashore's 56 mile long section of the Outer Banks of North Carolina running from Ocracoke Inlet on the northeast to Beaufort Inlet on the southwest.

The three undeveloped barrier islands that make up the Park-North Core Banks, South Core Banks, and Shackleford Banks.

The incumbent serves as the parks public information officer and oversees the volunteer program. The incumbent reports directly to the Superintendent.
