Software Engineering Manager I - Mobile
Location: Arden Hills
About the role:
This position is responsible for directing various activities of the CRM Mobile Monitor team focused on developing and testing mobile medical software. This team's primary activities are the development and formal verification of the mobile monitor software. Throughout this process, the software engineering manager oversees a team of engineers for the efficient, high-quality design and testing of this critical software.
Your responsibilities, both technical and managerial, include:
- Develop a BLE-intensive native mobile application for Android using Kotlin and/or Java
- Produce highly testable code
- Write automated tests including unit, integration, and functional tests
- Participate in design reviews to provide architectural feedback
- Conduct code reviews with your peers
- Responsible for recruiting, coaching, and developing team.
- Fosters diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
- Demonstrates effective change leadership.
- Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Master's degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in Mobile Software Development with BS, or 5 years with MS
- 3+ years of experience developing Android applications, with minimum 1 year using Kotlin
- 2+ years of experience leading a team of mobile engineers
- Experience with medical software development. myLUXTM experience is preferred
- Experience developing against web services
- Experience writing unit tests for Android
- Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product and process design.
- Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
- Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Working knowledge of continuous integration for Android
- Experience working with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/RxJava and Retrofit
- Experience creating automated UI tests with Espresso or Appium
- Exposure to building mobile applications in iOS with Swift
- Ability to develop web applications using Java/J2EE technologies
- Understanding of JavaScript, HTML and CSS
- Ability to develop partnerships with cross-functional areas within and outside of product development.
- Experience working with a global R&D team.
- Experience prioritizing resource needs across competing projects.
- Experience in leading change management initiatives.
- Strong communication skills, including technical discussions at all levels.
