About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

Service of food and/or beverage to include the order-taking and delivery of any food and/or beverage items. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Ensure tables are cleaned and set promptly to effectively serve our guests, maintaining table settings by removing finished courses, clearing and organizing dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware, and maintain a clean and sanitary bussing station.
Complete all restocking and cleaning duties as instructed.
Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials in order to answer questions and make recommendations to customers.
Maintain cleanliness standards in the restaurant, wait station, and kitchen service area to have a clean, presentable, and attractive facility and to satisfy state and local health board requirements.
Attend all pre-meal and departmental meetings in person to enhance communications and gain knowledge of products, services, and facilities.
Respond to customer inquiries and comments in person and on the phone by providing timely and knowledgeable information to provide quality customer service.
Present a clean and professional appearance at all times.
Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor always. Able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
Greet the guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness.
Record the details of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracy.
Input the order into the Point-of-Sale computer to inform the kitchen of the particulars in the order being placed.
When complete, retrieve order from kitchen, confirm its accuracy, lift and deliver to guest along with appropriate condiments.
Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
Market and serve upon request any dessert items or specialty coffees.
Ascertain guest satisfaction and present check.
Process checks per hotel procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
Compensation: $11.40 per hour plus tips

Requirements

Education: High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience: Prefer (6) six months to (1) one year previous serving experience.

Skills and Abilities: Must have vision and ability to clearly see computer printouts, and written instructions and to observe entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions. Must have manual coordination to grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages. Able to read, speak, and understand English. Able to lift, push, carry lbs. Must bale to work on weekends and holidays. Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures to pre-check order and close out the check. Stand continuously for long periods of time. Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff, and guests.
