Position Overview

They are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on AR experience within the professional services sector, with a strong emphasis on general accounting tasks, time and billing, reverse invoicing, and all basic AR functions. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely collection of receivables, managing client accounts, and contributing to the financial health of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciliation: Reconcile cash receipts with bank statements on a weekly basis.
  • General Accounting: Perform general accounting tasks following standard procedures.
  • Data Analysis: Download and analyze reports from our ATS system using Excel.
  • Payment Processing: Process payments and assist with monthly closings and annual reports in compliance with GAAP.
  • Client Communication: Contact clients to resolve payment issues as necessary.
  • Discrepancy Investigation: Investigate discrepancies in payments, including short payments and overpayments.
  • Mission Alignment: Uphold and promote the organization's mission, values, and culture.
  • Document Verification: Verify the accuracy of documents and reports.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with billing and assist with collections as needed.
  • Journal Maintenance: Maintain the cash receipts journal and send out invoices.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of relevant experience in accounts receivable, coupled with an AA or BA degree in Accounting or a related field; or 3+ years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excel Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IF statements, SUMIFS, and data analysis tools.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills in accounts receivable and accounting policies.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • AR Knowledge: Knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
  • Onsite Availability: Ability to work in the office 5 days a week at our Manhattan HQ.
  • Software Experience: Experience with relevant accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, ABD, or Microsoft Dynamics GP).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with other departments.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Customer Service: Customer service orientation and experience dealing with clients in a professional manner.
