Position Overview:
.5 FTE Special Education Teaching position to teach social skills and behavior management techniques and .5 FTE Case manger at Spring Lake Park High School working with students in grades 9-12.The position will primarily be working with Autsism Spectrum Disorders and Emotional Behavioral Disorders.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
SEB:
  • Design and deliver direct social, emotional, and behavior instruction to students with IEPs
  • Maintain student records of service provided, following Due Process best practices and compliance
  • Conduct formative assessment and monitor progress to guide instructional planning related to social, emotional, and behavior goals on students' IEPs
  • In collaboration with the case manager, write progress reports and determine appropriate IEP goals based on data related to social, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings, as appropriate
  • Collaborate/consult with general and special education staff and professional learning communities (PLCs) to ensure student needs are being met
  • Model and coach social, emotional, and behavioral strategies to school staff to support students' ability to generalizate skills across school environments
  • Communicate with families to provide regular updates on student successes and challenge
Case Management:
  • Develop and provide direct academic, social, emotional, and behavior instruction;
  • Conduct formative assessment, and monitor progress, to guide instructional planning;
  • Consult and partner with general and special education staff;
  • Maintain student records of services provided, following Due Process best practices and compliance;
  • Participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Experience:

Previous experience or willingness to work with students struggling with behavior management. Additional knowledge or experience with due process/assessments/methods and current trends in the field of behavior interventions and support.

Qualifications:

  • Must have current Minnesota EBD, Autism or ABS teaching license.
  • Experience in developing and providing direct social, emotional and behavioral instruction.
  • Experience implementing strategies for improving social skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds weight (and/or up to adult-size body weight with two-to-three person lift).
  • Experience with standardized assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of Special Education Due Process procedures.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate.
  • Ability to communicate with parent/guardian and team members.

Licensing Requirements:

Must have current Minnesota EBD, Autism or ABS teaching license.
