Definition of Class
This position coordinates video services, videotaping of athletic events, utilization of computer editing facilities to prepare materials for upcoming athletic events and production of original videos to be used for promotion, recruiting, and instructional purposes.
Examples of Work Performed
- Coordinates the transportation and set up of equipment for videotaping of athletic events from practice to competition site.
- Operates video equipment to document player action at practices and competitive events.
- Generates edited tapes by use of computer equipment and distributes edited tapes to appropriate personnel for promotional, recruitment and instructional use.
- Conceptualizes and designs, with input from coaching staff, video content with regard to camera positions and assignments.
- Produces situational cut ups and statistical data videos by position, play and formation for coaching staff and maintains video archives of past athletic events.
- Coordinates and trades film in accordance with SEC and NCAA guidelines; which includes documenting number of copies, adhering to deadlines, shipping guidelines, and formats.
- Purchases video equipment and supplies.
- Stays abreast of new software and equipment available and advises supervisors of equipment and its capabilities.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment and implements software and hardware upgrades.
- Performs troubleshooting, software configuration, and problem resolution with external technical service providers which may involve system emergencies with video network system.
- Develops short and long term strategic planning for equipment acquisition.
- Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Southeastern Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
- Coordinates the videotaping of athletic events.
- Produces, edits, and distributes tapes to appropriate personnel.
- Purchases and maintains equipment and supplies.
- Maintains video archives of past athletic events.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience:
One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement:
Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
