Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The Accountant I prepares, reconciles, and audits budgets under general supervision. Prepares financial reports, invoices, schedules, and/or statements. Completes journal entries. Reviews, analyzes, and approves expenditures. Determines fund balances. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, University policies, and procedures.


Additional Department Summary: The Accountant I performs professional reconciliation, balancing, and comprehensive and complex analysis of a non-routine nature, under limited supervision. Processes electronic data files and downloads and updates transactions as needed. Provides customer service to students and parents during peak registration times and in particular circumstances throughout the semester. Executes standard reports and takes appropriate action based upon the results.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related financial field.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to make decisions based on careful analysis and thoughtful judgments. Computer skills (spread sheet applications, personal computing networks, internet software, etc.). Ability to work effectively under stress and high levels of activity.
