Essential Job Functions:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and interventional cardiology sectionDevelop and implement clinical protocols and quality control standards to ensure patient safety and optimize patient outcomesProvide patient-centered care and perform complex cardiovascular interventions, including angioplasty, stenting, and other proceduresEvaluate and manage patients with complex cardiovascular diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settingsInterventional procedures in Cath LabSTEMI callIn-patient CCU service Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patients needsDetermines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointmentsPrescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patientsOrders studies, test and ancillary services in patient medical recordsDocuments all services in patient medical recordsReviews on a regular basis long-term cases that require ongoing medical attentionConsults with leadership and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirementsAssists in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patientsWorks collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care to patientsFosters an environment of continuous learning and improvement by participating in and leading educational initiatives, such as grand rounds, journal clubs, and research projectsServes as a mentor and role model to junior colleagues, residents, and medical students, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and developmentActs as a liaison between the cardiology department and other clinical departments and hospital leadership to improve communication, collaboration, and patient outcomesParticipates in administrative and committee responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Cardiology.Maintains confidentiality of all patient information and adheres to University and unit-level policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as assignedDesired Qualifications:MD or DO degree from an accredited institutionBoard certification in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular DiseaseCurrent Florida medical licenseDEA registrationAt least five years of clinical experience as an Interventional CardiologistDemonstrated excellence in leadership, education, and academic pursuits, including research, teaching, and quality improvementStrong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and hospital leadership.Performs in tactful and professional manner, superior patient engagement skills The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is the leading research institution in South Florida.
