Shift Technician, level A, with Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) experience

Job Description

The Shift Technician will be assigned to operating shifts and work the same rotating shift schedule as Operations Department employees, which is currently a 12-hour shift rotation.

The Shift Technician is a multi-disciplinary classification, able to perform operations duties and maintenance duties including but not limited to electrical, control and instrument, mechanical, welding and use of machine tools. Shift Technicians must be capable of and are expected to plan, schedule and perform all aspects of their job while working independently.

Job Qualifications:

Advanced technical certificate in Control Systems Technology or Industrial Electronics Technology from a military school, technical trade school, or college.

Practical work experience as a journeyman working with the following equipment desirable:

  • Programmable logic controls
  • Analog and digital distributed control system
  • Analytical and pneumatic instrumentation
  • Computer programming

The Shift Technician classification is a multi-discipline position, able to perform maintenance and operations duties in a safe and efficient manner. Shift Technicians will often be expected to plan, schedule, and perform all aspects of their job while working as an independent group. Shift Technicians are also expected to maintain the qualifications of the position and continue to develop new skills required by the position.

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Must successfully pass the POSS/MASS pre-employment test.

Shift Technicians are members of IBEW Local 51. All Shift Technicians must complete an on-site training program with two years of their start date. The work schedule is currently a rotating 12-hour shift.
