Job Announcement

Effective July 13, 2024, compensation plans will be increased by 2% (market rate adjustment):

This position assists in the planning and administration of a large community center, within special tax district Draneseville 1-A. Oversees the operations and day-to-day functions. Manages multiple operational units including customer service, finance, facilities, human resources, IT and administration. Establishes and oversees implementation of policies and procedures for MCC operations. Develops and refines standard operating procedures and customer service protocols, employee relations and staff engagement, annual budget preparation, IT support and developing and reporting on metrics related to strategic plan and program evaluations. Assists with long-range strategic planning, preparation of operating objectives and program evaluation. Assumes full responsibility for the operation of the McLean Community Center in the absence of the Executive Director.

Other duties include: Works with executive director and facilities manager to develop capital improvement plans and project implementation. Oversees the managing of MCC contracts for service providers. Works with executive director and comptroller in developing the MCC's annual budget. Reviews operating and capital budgets on an on-going basis throughout the year to include agency expenditures and revenue. Oversees IT functions and serve as IT back-up to staff and county liaison. Manages agency management information systems and software and technological offering to the community. Serves as signature authority when the executive director is unavailable. Oversees the human resources function of MCC to include active role in employee relations. Develops programming for staff engagement and professional development. Assists executive director with staff development, long-term goals and employee relations. Oversees the customer service division to include the front desk operations and policy development and implementation. Works with the governing board, executive director and the MCC staff in providing leadership for strategic planning, community-wide initiatives and long-range facility planning. Coordinates and prepares data analysis for MCC initiatives. Conducts research and prepares reports for the executive director and the governing board. Reviews issues to insure the development of positive and productive relationships with community partners and contractors.

Schedule: Frequent evening meetings, occasional weekend and holiday work will be required.

Salary: The selected applicant's starting salary will be in the minimum to midpoint range ( $94,248.34 to $129, of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees. Salary offer will be based on years of experience, and generally will not go above the midpoint ($129,

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation, public administration, or a closely related field; plus four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in diversified recreational or cultural programs, including two years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a large recreational or cultural facility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in recreation, public administration, arts administration, business or related field is preferred. Five years of progressively responsible administrative management experience, to include experience in human resources management, customer service management, budget development and management, facility management and capital projects, customer service, IT, and human resources management. Possesses good judgement and ability to work independently. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy. Ability to work with a diverse staff and strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to present and speak to the Governing Board, public and staff. Excellent organizational skills, commitment to accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor, incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment.May require lifting up to 25 pounds.Must be able to communicate with others verbally and in writing.All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
