We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our team We invite you to check out the details below and consider whether becoming a Nerd is the next step in your career journey.

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) role is a highly experienced and technically skilled role on the Strategy team working with Google Cloud Partner work. Focus will be on negotiating the gap between business objectives, technical feasibility, and user experience, ensuring that Nerdery's teams deliver cutting-edge solutions that empower our clients to meet their goals.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Technical Expertise: Ensure the technical feasibility of proposed solutions. Leverage knowledge of technical architecture, data pipelines, cloud platforms, and data management principles to advise the team and make informed decisions. As part of driving solutions forward, collaborate with the engineering team to craft systems diagrams and advise on solutions architecture decisions.
  • Bridging the Gap: Serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and the technical team as you translate business needs into technical requirements that the architecture needs to support. This involves clear communication of data volumes, processing needs, security concerns, and integration points with existing systems. Translate technical concepts such that non-technical business stakeholders understand the implications of decisions.
  • Data-Driven Roadmaps: Collaborate with data analytics, engineering, and other cross functional teams to define data-driven strategies, translating them into product roadmaps that leverage best-in-class cloud technologies. Identify the right use cases that capture the client's goals and bring them to life through key features, and success metrics to ensure the roadmap aligns with both business objectives and technical realities.
  • Deep Collaboration: Collaborate with internal team members and client stakeholders. This involves actively listening, asking insightful questions, and translating complex business needs into technical requirements.
  • User-Centric Design: Advocate for user-centric design principles in data product development. Work closely with UX designers to create intuitive and efficient interfaces for end users.
  • Data Analytics: Collaborate with data analytics team to understand trends and patterns of the available data and how that relates to client business needs, define a data strategy and use cases for data visualization that help illustrate key performance metrics for the client.
  • Agile Management: Manage product backlogs, prioritizing features based on user impact, business value, and technical dependencies. Track project progress against deadlines within an Agile development environment, ensuring efficient execution and timely delivery.
  • User Validation: Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and gather feedback from client stakeholders to ensure data products & technical solutions meet their specific needs. Actively listen to user concerns, identify areas for improvement, and iterate on the product based on their insights.
  • Innovation Mindset: Stay up-to-date on the latest data management technologies, best practices for State and local government, and relevant cloud offerings. Continuously expand your knowledge to ensure you're proposing the most innovative and effective solutions for your clients.
  • Comprehensive Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive product documentation for both internal and client use. This includes technical specifications, user guides, and training materials, ensuring clear communication and knowledge transfer across all stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) from an accredited college or university
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, preferably with a focus on data-driven solutions in the public sector
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data pipelines, data security best practices, and familiarity with cloud platforms.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including government stakeholders.
  • Experience leading 1-1 stakeholder interview sessions
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure compliance with State and federal data privacy regulations.
  • Experience working on cross functional teams including Design, Engineering, Strategy, and Analytics.
