As a Network Engineer you will support our fiber optic network, be instrumental in managing and optimizing our wireless network infrastructure, including LoRaWAN and CBRS LTE Technologies. These wireless networks are integral to enabling smart city applications, loT devices and innovative digital services that will enhance quality of life and drive sustainable growth for the city.


Essential Functions:

  • Maintain technical operation of the transport network
  • Design, recommends and implements core and access network elements
  • Install and configure network elements
  • Perform Level 3 troubleshooting of network problems
  • Perform level 3 and 4 troubleshooting of customer escalations
  • Maintain documentation of the network
  • Work with vendors to specify equipment and place orders
  • Coordinates with vendor service personnel on projects and maintenance
  • Work with Vendors on resolving network and equipment issues
  • Direct service personnel in executing projects and conducting network maintenance.
  • Coordinates with customers to integrate services
  • Designs and recommends solutions to customer needs
  • reviews and interprets network alarms
  • Identifies and plans action to properly clear network alarms
  • performs software upgrades to network elements
  • meets with customers as required for service deliver/support
  • trains operations personnel on network monitoring and maintenance
  • documents all projects and changes per company guidelines
  • coordinates with vendors on equipment purchase, requests, equipment returns and repairs
  • creates purchase requests for equipment and services
  • provides technical support to internal departments for special project


Additional Responsibilities

  • Must maintain a valid drivers license
  • must be available to work after hours work (subject to call outs and on call rotation to include, holidays nights and weekends) which would include working fair share of all necessary overtime


Required Qualifications

Education: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field.

6 years MINIMUM of related experience.

  • Must possess solid understanding of Service Provider transport network architecture including outside plant, core/aggregation/edge electronics, inside plant, collocation facilities, and customer premise
  • Working knowledge of fiber splicing, install procedures and QC procedures
  • Operational knowledge of network electronics and data center components
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of network protocols, maintenance, tools and equipment
  • Must possess advance computer skills and related software applications
  • Skills at installing and configuring network services
  • Must possess working knowledge of OSI layer 2/3/4/ data networking, network design, Ethernet switching, BGP routing, IP/MPLS architectures, structured wiring and command line provisioning.
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot problems with converged data and VoIP networks
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer relations skills both verbal and written
