Project Control Manager

$81.25/hr W2 only
The Project Controls Manager/Specialist will be responsible for managing project control functions for the Colorado Power Pathway Project. Reporting to the project director, this role encompasses planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and reporting to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large capital infrastructure projects. Experience in the utilities industry is a plus but not required.
Essential ResponsibilitiesProject Controls Leadership
- Develop and implement comprehensive project control processes and systems, identifying and mitigating risk potentials to the project.
- Led and mentored a team of project control professionals, including cost controllers and schedulers. Lead and direct schedule management involving critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting, and document control
- Collaborate closely with project management, land acquisition & permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and other stakeholders.
- Implement industry best practices in project controls and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Planning and Scheduling
- Establish and maintain the project baseline schedule using Primavera P6.
- Monitor project progress, identify variances, and implement corrective actions with the project team.
- Analyze schedule impacts and provide forecasts and recovery plans as necessary.
Cost Management
- Ensure accurate cost management, including detailed cost estimates and forecasts.
- Ensure accurate Earned Value Management system reporting.
- Implement cost control processes to monitor expenditures, commitments, and cash flow.
- Prepare cost variance analyses and recommend actions to mitigate overruns.
Risk Management
- Identify Project control improvement opportunities and contribute to the project risk management processes
- Collaborate on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities
Reporting and Communication
- Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the management reporting system.
- Prepare project reports, including status updates, dashboards, and executive summaries.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of project performance to stakeholders.
Quality Assurance
- Work closely with the Quality Manager to integrate quality metrics into project controls.
- Ensure that project control processes support the achievement of quality objectives.
Minimum RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCP, EVP) are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project controls for large capital infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Experience in the utilities industry, particularly in electric utilities or high-voltage transmission projects, is a plus but not required.
Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6.
- Proficiency in other project management tools, including Microsoft Project, cost management tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Expert knowledge of project control methodologies, including earned value management.
- Familiarity with risk management processes and tools.
Leadership and Communication
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
